Music has the ability to also change the world as it changes the way we view music, and other art forms. Take beethoven for example. The following is taken from a forum and it tells about how beethoven changed the way people view music as well as and other art forms forever.

Yes it did.
In music appreciation, I am learning how music affects art forms and how history affects music.
The musician who changed the world with his music was Ludwig van Beethoven
His music changed the way people thought about music and how it evolved over time. This change applied to other art forms as well.
My music teacher said that it is like music can be catergorized as B.B or A.B(before beethoven, after)
before beethoven,
music was made for a purpose...it did not stand on its own.
musicians worked under the patronage system and wrote only what their King,Duke,Count etc..etc.. told them to write.
Music did not have to have meaning or deep emotion,
it was just what the Master wanted for his dinner party, mass, opera night, etc...etc...
But Beethoven changed that!
He put immense emotion into all his works that it forced people to take notice. He created his work on his own with what he was feeling at the time. His music stands on its own. It has its own meaning, no one told him to write things at a certain time for a certain purpose. It all came from his will. He played with such great emotion that men weeped, women fainted...etc etc
You could not put Beethoven in the background for your party! His music demands your attention, your audience
This is the basis for music today
we go to concerts just to hear our band play
we dont go to concerts just to play cards while the music is playing....
Beethoven BELIEVED that his music could changed the world.
And it DID :)
If he did not...
music would just be background noise....
I'm sure you have heard of his 5th symphony...
It grabs your attention from the first bar and takes you on a ride of emotion that he was feeling as he was going through hardship.
His 9th symphony take contains Ode to Joy. was writen when this music genius was completely deaf! he had to be physically turned around to see the standing ovation given to him at its premire!
Beethoven is an inspiration to all of us. Not only cuz he changed the world with his music but, for the fact that deafness did not stop him from composing music! and if deafness did not stop Beethoven....What is stopping you from your dreams? :)(paraphrased from my teacher) :)I did not think of that on my own!! :/
